“Splitting up with the person that you love is hell. I remember the first time I got my heartbroken, I was 19 years old. And one morning I remember waking up and sunlight was streaming through the window, and I was smiling, feeling like everything was right in the world for about 4 or 5 seconds, and then quite suddenly *gasp* I remembered the shock, that the only person I’d ever loved had left me. And I think it can feel like you’ve been broken up, like a part of you is missing. You desperately find yourself hoping that something will fill the void that person has left behind.
That summer I was heartbroken and didn’t know what to do, so one night I decided I was going to give my life up to chance and live life by the role of a dice. Me and my best friend went out and every decision we had to make, we rolled a dice. If we rolled an even number, we’d drink this, if we rolled a 6, we’d go here. And we were having a great night and I met a boy. I told him, Im going to throw this dice and if it lands on a even number, you have to kiss me, and if it’s odd, you have to give me 50p. Which wasn’t a great deal for him. But anyway, it meant that I ended up going out with him.. for several unhappy years, but nonetheless! That’s another story.
If your going through a break up, I’m really sorry and I genuinely hope your okay. Remember there are many more programmes to download and listen to from BBC Radio 4… to fill the lonely hours. I’m sorry!” —Josie Long- ShortCuts: Split, BBC Radio 4 (via andtriggermadeaface)
